PROJECT

OCEANTRANS investigates how the energy transition process can drive the transformation of existing industries. The project conducts theoretical and empirical research with a view to contextualise the development of the new system and investigate the processes taking place along its interactions with the environment context where it evolves.

The project is conducted by a multidisciplinary team with a strong research background in this field, and benefits from the collaboration of reputed experts in innovation and technological change, as external consultants.

WP1

WP1 conceptualises the nature and effects of the interactions between the emerging system and its context, as well as the factors that can accelerate or inhibit these interactions, influencing their transformative impact.

WP2

WP2 investigates the structure and dynamics of the interactions that occurred, over time, between the emerging system and its context, in order to identify patterns of interaction and factors that might have influenced them.

WP3

WP3 aims at gaining an in-depth understanding of the interactions taking place and their impacts, supported by an analysis of the behaviour of the actors involved: the rationale for their decisions, their expectations and future strategies.

WP4

WP4 takes stock of the results obtained at both conceptual (WP1) and empirical (WP2 and WP3) levels, in order to extend our knowledge on the conditions in which the development of new systems can drive broader economic and social transformations.
